To apply our new knowledge of making logical conclusions from specific facts (deductive reasoning) we worked with logic puzzles today in class.

Friday September 19-what we did in class that day

In class we learned about conjectures. A conjecture is an educated guess that you use the information given to you and look for a pattern in order to guess what is coming next in the sequence. Fore example. If i had a series of dots... :

Example: . .. ... .... ..... ...... Could you guess what comes next in the sequence? Well you could think about the pattern and each time the number of dots goes up by one dot so therefore you can assume that the next pattern in the sequence would be .......

We also did a little work with the Fibonacci sequence and we just looked at the pattern and how it is used to created a rectangle that is most appeasing to the human eye. This is used in a lot of artwork.

We also learned how to use a counter-example. A counter example is a statement used to prove that something is false. Like if i said that 2+2= 5 then you could uuse a counter-example and show two apples and add two more apples and it shows that is actually equals 4 apples not 5 apples.
